Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 21, 2026

Your privacy matters. Mosaic Launcher is designed to give you a customizable Android home-screen experience. Some features require access to device information. This policy explains what information may be accessed, how it is used, and the controls available to you.

1. Introduction

Mosaic Launcher ("Mosaic", "we", "our", or "the app") is an Android home-screen replacement developed to provide a customizable, tile-based launcher experience.

This Privacy Policy describes how Mosaic accesses, processes, stores, and protects information when you use the application.

2. Information Accessed by Mosaic

2.1 Installed Applications

Mosaic accesses information about installed applications to display app icons, names, folders, shortcuts, and the App Drawer.

This may include applications available through supported Android user profiles, work profiles, or manufacturer-provided app-cloning features.

Application information is used to provide launcher functionality.

2.2 Notifications

With your permission, Mosaic may access Android notifications to provide features such as:

  • Live Notification Tiles
  • Notification previews
  • Notification dots and indicators
  • Notification-related tile information

Notification access is optional and can be revoked at any time through Android Settings.

Notifications may contain personal information from other applications. Mosaic accesses this information to display the notification features you enable.

2.3 Contacts

Optional features such as Mosaic People may require access to contacts to display selected people, contact information, or communication shortcuts.

Contacts access is subject to Android permissions and is used for the enabled feature.

2.4 Calendar

Calendar-related tiles may access calendar events and schedules when the relevant feature is enabled and permission is granted.

Calendar information is used to display user-requested events and upcoming activities.

2.5 Photos and Media

Mosaic may access selected images or media for features including:

  • Gallery tiles
  • Wallpaper selection
  • Wallpaper previews
  • Music album artwork
  • Media playback information and controls

Media access depends on the feature and permissions supported by your Android device.

2.6 Location and Weather

Weather features may use a manually selected location or, where supported and authorized, device location information.

Weather requests may be processed through Mosaic's backend infrastructure and an external weather service.

Location information necessary to retrieve weather conditions may be transmitted to these services.

2.7 Launcher Preferences

Mosaic may store your customization preferences, including:

  • Home-screen tile arrangements
  • App Drawer preferences
  • Tile sizes and layouts
  • Appearance and color settings
  • Wallpaper selections
  • Enabled information tiles
  • Other launcher configuration settings

These settings are used to preserve your preferred launcher experience.

3. How Information Is Used

Information accessed by Mosaic is used to provide supported functionality, including:

  • Displaying and launching installed apps
  • Managing Home and App Drawer layouts
  • Displaying enabled notification features
  • Providing optional information tiles
  • Saving customization preferences
  • Retrieving requested weather information
  • Managing Pro purchases and entitlements
  • Maintaining app performance and reliability

Accessing information on your device does not necessarily mean that the information is transmitted to an external server. Network-connected features may require information to be processed externally.

4. Third-Party Services

Mosaic uses or may integrate third-party services to provide specific functionality.

4.1 Firebase and Google Cloud

Mosaic uses Google Firebase or Google Cloud infrastructure for supported backend features, including weather requests.

Depending on the configured services, technical information such as request metadata, IP addresses, and operational logs may be processed by Google.

Additional Firebase services, where enabled, may process analytics or diagnostic information according to their respective configurations.

Firebase Privacy Information

4.2 Google Play Billing

Mosaic may offer optional Pro features through Google Play Billing.

Purchases and payment transactions are processed by Google Play.

Mosaic may receive purchase status, product identifiers, and transaction-related information necessary to activate, verify, or restore purchased features.

Google Privacy Policy

4.3 Weather Services

Weather functionality may use an external weather provider to retrieve current conditions and forecasts.

Location information required to complete weather requests may be processed by the weather provider and Mosaic's backend services.

5. Data Storage and Retention

Mosaic may store launcher preferences and configuration information locally on your device.

Temporary information such as cached application icons, weather responses, and feature data may be retained to improve performance and functionality.

Third-party providers may retain technical records, operational logs, or purchase information according to their own retention policies.

Uninstalling Mosaic generally removes Android-managed local application data. Information retained by external providers, such as Google Play purchase records, is subject to their respective policies.

6. Information Sharing

Mosaic does not require users to publicly share their launcher layouts, contacts, notifications, or personal content.

Information may be processed by external service providers when necessary to deliver requested features, backend functionality, or purchases.

Depending on the service provider, information may be processed on servers located outside your country of residence.

7. Android Permissions

Mosaic relies on Android's permission and access-control systems.

Depending on the features you enable, permissions or special access may include:

  • Installed application visibility
  • Notification access
  • Contacts access
  • Calendar access
  • Location access
  • Photos and media access
  • Wallpaper-related functionality
  • Other access required by supported launcher features

You can manage supported permissions through Android Settings.

Disabling certain permissions may limit related features without affecting unrelated launcher functionality.

8. Data Security

We aim to use appropriate technical safeguards to protect information processed by Mosaic and its supporting services.

However, no application, network, or electronic storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

9. Children's Privacy

Mosaic Launcher is a general-purpose Android launcher and is not specifically designed for children.

We do not intentionally design Mosaic to collect children's personal information for advertising or profiling purposes.

Parents and guardians should manage device permissions and access as appropriate.

10. Your Privacy Choices

You can control many aspects of Mosaic's functionality by:

  • Enabling or disabling optional features
  • Managing Android permissions
  • Revoking notification access
  • Changing launcher preferences
  • Disabling optional information tiles
  • Uninstalling Mosaic
